De-emphasis in DIY DAC, quick question

I'm going to build a DIY 44.1KHz/SPDIF DAC with very old D/A chips that have De-emphasis pin option (or selectable IV / output filter circuitry option). This is to listen to digital flac ripped CD via a current network player.

Should I take care of this (when/how I should activate) or leave it as per default condition (i.e. no de-emphasis)?

I've ripped almost all my CDs onto HDDs - if any of them had de-emphasis I'm not sure how I'd find out which because I don't know if that information is even stored when a disk is ripped. I'd leave de-emphasis out if I were you.

Rumour has it that pre-emphasis was mainly used on some CDs from the early 1980's. On recent CDs it is very unusual.
