Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to find an HDMI to 4 x SPDIF converter under $500. I've got experience with miniDSP so I really like them. The AVR HDA is very very close.

I'm curious how the analog board is implemented? Is it an add-on board to the very similar nanoAVR HD?

If so, does anyone have any opinions on how difficult it would be to take the same signals and power, and use them to drive the appropriate buffers and transformers to generate SPDIF output?

I've some PCB design experience, but most of it with speaker crossover and analog op amp level stuff. A really sweet thing would be if I could take the nanoAVR HDA and build a new top board which did away with the DAC. Essentially creating a nanoAVR HD-D(igital). It's kind of what the Vanity HD boards do for the Oppo players.

Helpful opinions of course are welcome.

Best,

Erik
