It reads to me as though the person was not satisfied with the results, likened it to a cheap chinese product which was at odds with the design philosophy and then decided to learn from his mistake of buying the DAC/PCB by putting it on display so he will always remember that no-one ever regretted buying something was proven design.

Anyway, thats my take on it - easy to read that is what he meant, 100%..
