I've got a problem with DIT4096 Audio Transmitter. I'm trying to organize optical output from my car head unit. The chip in the head unit is Panasonic MN662747RPH http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/panasonic/MN662747RPH.pdf So, I connected pins 1,2 and 3 of MN662747RPH with pin 11,12,13 of DIT4096. Crystal oscillator circuit output pin f=16.9344 MHz (59) connected to pin 6 of DIT4096. Pins 4,9,10,19, 28 connected directly to +5V from the stabilizer on the head unit plate with capacitors between pins 7 and 8, 16 and 19. Pin 7 was connected with +3,3V output of PC power supply unit (it was used also as the power supply for the system). Pins 5,8,14, 16 were connected to 0. Pin 15 was also connected to 0 to reset DIT4096. Toshiba TOTX177 transmitter connected to pin 18 (according to the scheme). In a few seconds DIT4096 became extremely hot and smoked. What was made incorrect? May be I should use some resistors for the power supply or mode selection pins?
If the Panasonic chip is connected on the 5V supply it might have 5V logic levels on the Data, M clock, S clock, sync. If so, then you would need 5V on VIO pin 7. Did you check the logic levels with an oscilloscope?

Yes. It's +3V on BCLK and +5V on LRCK and SRDATA. Can't measure the level on masterclock output.rossl said:Did you check the logic levels with an oscilloscope?

I checked the datasheet of the MN662747RPH and there is no mention that pin 1,2,3 are I2S. It can be left justified (in which case you need to connect pin 4 of the 9022 to +Vs instead of Gnd), or even right justified, in which case you need to use another DAC. The input pins of the 9022 are 5V compatible, and can take 24 bit I2S, so I cannot image problems there. Also it is using 50MHz asynchronous reclocking, so clock rate has no influence.
I suggest you use a logic analyser, or try another DAC like TDA1543, to verify whether the output is indeed I2S.
