Reducing panel vibration of subwoofer port

I would like to reinforce the walls of my slot ports in my upcoming subs, but I dont want to split the ports with dividers as is done in most slotport subwoofer designs.

Would long screws, once every few centimeter, influence the tuning? Because they are so thin I couldnt imagine them doing so, or having much influence on the air moving through it. With long screws crossing the port through the middle I could bend the panels slightly to the center aka putting tension on them. The tension would make them vibrate less?

Or could I just use thicker materials? Like 22mm (MDF?) panels or some kind of thick metal or plastic.

Would it be worth it to go through all this? Probably not, but it is something I want to explore.
