I am looking at building a set of small active bookshelf monitors using a Solen AP-016B plate amplifier for amplification and crossover. Couple of questions come to mind:

  1. Is there fire risk in adding polyester stuffing to a box with a plate amplifier with exposed electronic components? I have a plate amplifier in my SDX12 subwoofer build but I built a separate sealed compartment for it.
  2. Insurance risk: If this amplifier fails and burns down my house is there any precedent on liability? The amplifier is not DIY but is integrated into a DIY project. I do plan to put the speakers onto a smart plug that I can turn on manually only when using them but I'd like to know what others have found here (hopefully not through direct experience).

Thanks
