Hi @daniboun,

Nice build. I recently had a chat with 3e-audio regarding PSU requirements. They have confirmed that SMPS would be better choice for their amps. Did you get a chance to compare the performance with SMPS and LPSU both?

When I place my ears close to the tweeter, I'm getting some hissing noise with L15D-PS. I've tested the same by removing all input connections to the board. Are you getting any such hissing noise with the 3e audio modules?

I am late I am sorry. I have tested the 3E Board with a that Linear PSU and a SMPS PSU, to my ears : best results with the toroidal PSU.

JLElectronicsPh TPA3255 Prototype

✅ Transient voltage protection (SCR + TVS + Fuse)
✅ Oversized Zobel Network
✅ Linear post regulator
✅ Voltage supervisor (no startup/shutdown pops)
✅ Nichicon muse input caps

Will upgrade to better output inductors and opamps to OPA1656 on production version.

Korg NuTube preamp with ClassDaudio CDA-120 Power amp

Well I gave up chasing the noise issue and just started listening to the amp instead. Hooked up to my Eikona 2 VTL speakers (my DIY) and being driven by a Rega Planar 3 (circa 1988) with a Nagoka MP110 cartridge feeding through a Rega Fono 2 phono preaamp it sounds excellent. The noise level is very, very low and doesn't affect the music. So much detail, transient attack and wide/deep imaging. I'm building a subwoofer to complement the VTL's for low bass. Should be interesting.

The ClassDaudio CDA-120 60W/ch power amp seems to work well. The documentation was sorely lacking and when I contacted the company about the noise issue they would not respond. That left me somewhat frustrated as I would hope for better product support and response. Sad really. I can't give them a 5 star rating as a result. Hopefully the hardware keeps working well. The value for the money is definitely there. A 60w/ch power amp module, power supply board and toroid transformer for $185 USD is pretty reasonable.

Anyways listening to a lot of music these days which I haven't done much of in years. It a blast really and very addictive.

Really nice
Why the oversized Zobel? .... for a 300W amp I use only SMD ....
What are the coils?

So that we can select larger value zobel capacitor which can improve open load stability of TPA3255, specially in PFFB configuration. I will add optional parts for PFFB in production version.

Also some people perceive difference in sound when using different capacitor on zobel network. Using oversized Zobel will give them more options in selecting parts to play with.

Coil's part number used in the picture is SRP1770C-100M. Will use Ice Components 1D17A / 1D23A in production version.

Hi JLesterP

That is a really good looking pcb

Did you have any problems with thaming mosfet ringing with the OptiMos3 fets? Are you using any Snubbers or other measures to reduce ringning?

Really cool work

/Baldin

Thanks! Got no problem with IPP530N15N3, power supply is only up to 65V DC, osc freq only around 360kHz. Location of drain - source snubbers and bypass caps attached below.

3eAUDIO TPA3255 WITH DOUK 400W SMPS

Here is my first attempt at making an amp. The sound quality is excellent. I was sent the 24v smps instead of the 48v so I am still waiting for the replacement. I will be putting a wooden front on it to make it a bit prettier. It looks like a cheap eBay amp it the moment. I am very happy with the almost finished result.

Very nice work, congrats and enjoy !!

This is my 2nd class D amp, I used an old computer CD case and wood from an old shelf, works really well so far.

Tidy amp mate, it’s a little more complex than my one. Is it a 51 or 55? What smps is that? Are you using the 12v aux for an LED or something more? If it is just for an LED could you tell me what I would need to put a power light in my amp?

Sorry about all the questions.

So far sound is good, hard to compare since it is working with new balanced pre-amp as well, and rewired LP12 deck Balanced too. So AB test not easy, like it a lot at the moment.

It is the 55 with the "3e audio" 48 volt PSU I got from EBay, was going to wire up the front leds to fault and clip, but not done that yet. used the 12v on board for power on led.
