Based on my own TPA3255 pcb design I built a small accu driven PA-system. The ingredients are
-1 pedelec accu 36V/360Wh incl charger and mounting hardware
-1 small behringer mixer UB1202, modified for battery usage
-1 DC-DC-converter delivering +/-12V/6W
-2 TPA3255 mono PBTL power-modules delivering 2x100W/4Ohms
-1 home brewed reverberation module based on spinsemi FX-1
-1 bluetooth receiver module
-1 makpak toolbox

The speaker drivers are img-stageline PA6/100. There are 2 pieces in parallel per speaker box resulting in 4 ohms. These tiny enclosures do not expose any significant bass, but reproduce mid- and high-range with excellent power - just ideal as a small and effective voice amp system.

One of my old (2010) Hypex's stopped playing a few weeks ago...:(

Never got around to building a box for them...
They've been residing on the floor behind the speakers like this:

Managed to repair the SMPS thanks to an old post found on the interwebs:
electronicprojectsbuilder.blogspot.com

Although repaired, these were not designed to last (80° caps  )

So I better had to build me a couple of backups :D

Sick of Hypex in general I found this guy:
diygeezer
building an amp with a module designed right here in Sweden

lautsprechershop.de carries the modules in Europe.

Boxes ordered from HiFi2000

Some bits and bobs from Mouser and the parts bin and I'm in business :)

Left channel playing:

Right channel still waiting for completion

Hmm...why does some of the the pictures look crushed

Hi!

Just finished completing my 7 channel amplifier based on 3 TPA3255 amps and a single channel IRS2092 amp for subwoofer duties. The sub channel also has a volume pot (10K log) connected.

Still missing a two more UPC1237 protection boards, since I have to use two of those modules for the TPA3255, because the UPC1237 modules use a common ground for both channels and the TPA3255 boards are in BTL configuration.

The front will get a new finish since a scratched it here and there during the drilling process.

Hi Cradle22
Nice build.
What SMPS are you using, and is it something you can recommend?

Search for "tpa3255 power supply board" at Ali Express (or even better for "tpa3255 supply" at ebay, it will take you directly to the single rail version of that smps).
I bought those boards since the eBay-seller along recommends them for the TPA3255 module.

So far they have been working very well. I cannot say anything about EMI. I think it would be better to shield the modules, but then I have to think about forced cooling, as well (like with that 1450 W SMPS I use for the IRS2092 module)

I have been encouraged by friendly comment concerning TPA3255. I done some work without testing this board before. Now it was tested. I present results of test. They are a very trash. I am sad.

Hm, these small steps look like some crossover distortion arising at higher levels. First thing I would look after: Are there any opamps on this board? If so, I guess you will find same distortion at the opamp outputs that feed the tpa32xx inputs. In that case your opamps are fake5532, maybe LM358 and you have to swap them with real parts. You are definitely not the first one with exactly that problem.

There are two differential opamps. I will try to replace opamps. Thank you. Best wishes.
