The front and back panels are 3mm mdf. Should I leave the safety earth connected to the case? Any advantages? Disadvantages?

If the case is metal then you connect the case to GND because that ensures that if a mains-connected part touches it, you trip the house circuit breaker. Otherwise the metal part could be live without anybody realising it (until they touched it).

So if the case is not conductive, there isn't really any requirement to connect it to GND because it's not required for protection. However, if the case is not metal it also isn't thermally conductive as I wrote before, and it doesn't shield the circuit against noise either.

So to be very frank: Will it work? Yes, it will. Is it a good idea? No, absolutely not.

Connecting the safety earth to a non-conductive case has no effect at all.

Hi amigos,

Just got my new TPA3255 by HanZao.
This module is pretty unknown so I wanted to test it )

Out of the Box the module comes with the below components :

- 8000uf Rubycon YXF serie Low ESR / 50V
- Buffer caps, Rubycon YXF serie as well
- FIlm caps (MKP) Wurth
- SE Input (using Micro JST connector 2.0)
- DIP 8 OP Amps 5532 (updated with OPA1656)

Need to make a listening test before comparing vs others...
But sounds good at the moment. No Pop sound ON / OFF.

The module is really well protected : Yesterday I was tired and I mounted the power supply in the wrong way and the same for the OP amps... The module has automatically put itself in protection mode.
The Micro JST 2.0 connector is not practical for the SE input but I connected it with a JST 2.54 which is more conventional.

The Finished amp :

- Full alu case
- HanZao TPA3255 module
- 350W LLC PSU / 36V / 9.5A
- OPA1656
- Alps volume pot
- PET Cooper Cables
- AC Filter

Next step : updating Buffer caps.... If I have time )

Hello, does that make the case unsafe to use?

This is a photo gallery and so it's not really the place to discuss this important safety topic. I suggest that you start a new thread.

Guess this is the place to show off my TPA3110 experiments.

Here's a little Bluetooth Boombox. First pic is final cleaned up version. A laptop brick plugs into a jack mounted on the back. Speakers are 4ohm. Were super bright/tinny so used a 1R10ufC low pass wired at the terminals. Sounds really decent, high WAF.
