Converting 50ASX2 SE to BTL

Occasionally we see a thread or question about converting the 50ASX2 SE to the BTL version. I have three os then and have converted one by changing the link position from 401 to 400. However as far as I can see this only redirects the output of amplifier 2 to the negative terminal of amplifier 1.

I have read that there is a resistor change too somewhere that synchronises the oscilators of the two amplifiers but I did not persue this on my amplifier.

So my question is three fold.

  1. Is there any real reason to use the BTL version rather than just bridging the inputs on the SE version in the conventional way?
  2. Has anyone done the full conversion from SE to BTL?
  3. How much difference does it make is the oscillators are out of sync?
