Question Good amp with pre out and digital input

Hello

I'm looking for a decent stereo amp with multiple digital inputs and a pre-out/main-in to connect an EQ.

The amp would feed two 4pi speakers built according to the plans of Wayne Parham (big thank you to him).

Room accoustics are far from ideal. We have an L-shaped living room with lots of room modes.

Only accoustic treatment are curtains, carpets and 2 cabinet bookcases on the opposite wall of the speakers.

I did a measurement with REW (listening position, no toe-in) and you can see that the low frequencies are far from ideal.

I know there is a way to smooth the low frequencies with multiple subwoofer approach, but I don't know if it works good in L-shaped rooms. And those amps and subwoofers are a big investment...

So I'd like to solve the problem temporarily with an EQ hooked up to a decent stereo amp and do some room correction in EQ. I know it's not the best solution, but for now this is what my budget allows me to do.

However, in the pricerange $500-$1000 most of the stereo amps with digital input nowadays don't seem to have pre-out and main-in?

I'm looking for a decent stereo amp with digital inputs (at least 2) and a decent built-in DAC, with pre-out/main-in (or tape-loop) connection for EQ.

Budget around 700$, so I have some $ left for EQ.
I found this french amp: X-i90 - Advance Paris

Is it any good? Or advice for other amplifiers?

Thank you very much!!

PS I have a miniDSP 2x4 laying around, is it good for fullrange EQ (mostly <300hz) or does it affect sound quality too much?

I'm not sure about ready-made amps, but i'd imagine boards using things like the TAS325x (digital-input class-D amps with some DSP integrated) might possibly be a solution?

From your description, it sounds to me like you'd basically need a multiple-input DAC, and an amplifier. The exact device that does all you'd want it to, might be tricky to find.

But hey, this is DIYaudio, not buy-ready-made-stuff-audio

Haha, that's true! Maybe not the perfect place to ask my question.

Someone any experience with Advance Acoustic?

Find a used Lyngdorf TDAI2200 with room perfect. I find simple eq to be inadequate if room is really bad. Small corrections is ok.

That's probably because you can't correct time-issues (reflections etc) with amplitude adjustments (EQ).

Why not something like the miniDSP 2x4HD and a stereo amp of your choosing? the MiniDSP HD has better DAC than the original 2x4. It has Toslink, USB, and analog in. Can use a remote for volume control? Operate it as your digital preamp. It can drive a stereo amp directly. It is only $200 or $399 if you add in the Dirac live software. Get a stereo amp or possibly use your existing one.

Someone had considered a Marantz Melody ~ a balance of aesthetics, cost, SQ & features.

You are right. I now use open baffle woofers. They work better in my room. OP just needs to understand the limitations of a simple eq. Minidsp without dirac is just an eq, an advanced one but you can't expect miracles

Can you explain me more about the difference between MiniDSP EQ and Dirac EQ please?

FWIW, I found an interesting solution that could fit my needs (and maybe others): Yamaha RN803D, an integrated stereo amp with built-in room correction (YPAO) and multiple digital inputs.

It's just a pity that one can't adjust the room correction EQ-curve. It's pretty automatic.

PS Audio Sprout. Get the newer version with more power. Several digital inputs and an analog input, as well as phono. Analog out, as well as sub out.
