Class D amp running on batteries

I just read an advertisement for a small integrated amp, and CD player that ran off of rechargeable batteries... I was wondering if anyone else has ever done this, and what They thought of it when they were done. I am getting so e MINIDSP crossovers, and thought I might be able to start with those since they have wall warts.

Thoughts or ideas?
Please no flames for this idea. I know for years they have run preamps in the UK off of batteries, and I just thought it would be nice to do if it would sound as good as running off of electricity.

Running on batteries for the purpose of avoiding rectification and filtering of mains power?

It would be a good idea if you couldn't get power supplies which are virtually noise free, alas that is not the case.
