A 160 W power supply is ample for 2x300W music.

160 W is more than enough. Music has a crest factor that far exceeds the ratio between 300 and 160. I would consider it bad engineering to put a 300 W smps in front of this amp. Of course, amateurs like to over engineer stuff, but it just costs money and takes space.
