TPA3255 - all about DIY, Discussion, Design etc

claredes: I liked it right out of the box. Much better musicality to it compared to the older version. Rolled through several op-amps..like muses8820 & OPA1656 the best. Enjoy and let us know your impressions.

Cheers,

Pete

Thanks for the comments
In the Class D branch, I have to compare TDA7498, TPA3116D 50 + 50W and TPA3116D Dual Chip 100 + 100W, TPA3118 Dual Chip, STA508 and PAM8106.
My reference amplifier is a AB mosfet amplifier designed by a Brazilian designer (no, it is not a DX) that has been rated as one of the best DIY amplifiers designed in Brazil.
I hope to have fun moments of comparison and especially great auditions.

More power than my fosi audio TPA7498e based amp
When you know what you are doing, have strong skills with electronics, and have the right tools you can do all kinds of cool and awesome DIY audio stuff! When you do not know what you are doing, you are just asking for trouble, a shock, or for your kit to blow up and catch fire.

I think you should keep things safe and simple. If you are not satisfied with your Fosi 7490e amp (I have two of them) I suggest you buy a new, commercial amplifier (not that Aiyima crap) with higher power output that includes the correct AC plug for your country and do not mess around with or mod electronics until you get some proper knowledge, tools, and experience.

I set up my system on the top shelf on my hifi rack where i have a ikea cutting board, i had to use some blue tack for the amp (for some reason it wasn't level on the cutting board) my 4 way audio input control, my phonostage (very simple, no buttons at all just a plug and play phonostage) my nad dac and my tube buffer on top of it ready to be use if i need it.

I do have a noisy volume knob because it's made out of aluminium and consider adding a second mini class d amplifier. I don't like to be forced to use my tube buffer to be able to adjust the volume without static noise.

After i have used my fosi amp for some time and got to know it's sound signature and power, i got comfortable with it's power.

I have considered more efficient speakers if i ever need more power, for 95% of the music i play theres enough power, only for loud edm i need something like 2-3 db more power or a 5" woofer (current speakers are 4.5" 85db and are doing a very good job)

I do think i have more than 2x30 watt since i think my speakers are closer to 4 than 8 ohm

I haven't turned on my 3e Audio yet, but I was listening to my TDA7498 that had been stored for a long time and I noticed a detail.
He has absolutely no treble.
It sounds muffled. Even when using a high pitch adjustment, they sound muffled. As if there is an attenuator in the tweeters.
And they are very sensitive tweeters with a titanium dome where in my AB Mosfet amplifier that tends to have a higher weight in the bass, I use the treble control in the flat.
I quickly connected a simple TPA3116D 50 + 50w and the treble came without a preamplifier or tone control connected to the system.
I decided that the TDA7498 does not deserve the case where it is housed and I will mount a TPA3116D there.
Does everyone TDA7498 have this deficiency in the treble?

I ask friends.
would the 48V 7A SMPS suffice for the TPA3255?
I don't use excess power. My auditions are at most in volume at 12 o'clock. It is really the maximum volume that I get. my environment is small, moreover, I live in an apartment and I don't like to disturb the neighbors.
I found in the local market a SMPS with these characteristics at an unbeatable price and I am tempted to abandon the idea of using a linear source that I already saw that will take up a lot of space in the amplifier's cabinet.

TPA325x amp + PSU)))
Nothing new)))
hi mord
ok i will go with the questions i have
1 and most important are you making boards available
2 is this a universal amp im guessing thats what you mean by 325x
3 will this amp work as a plate amp as im presuming chip is on the underside
4 is the pffb implemented?
5 will it have i2s connection?
6 notice the logo change on pcb have you a new business/website?
as usual your boards look like pcb pornograthy  great work
