Has anyone purchased this item?:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/360982220650?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT#ht_3500wt_1111

I purchased it and am disappointed in results obtained in testing. I used a 24 volt power supply, 6 ohm resistive load, and 1kHz sine wave input signal. The most voltage I could get out before clipping was 11.5 volts. This translates to only 22 watts.

I pulled the heatsink and right beside the chip the silk screen says TDA7498. However, the chip must actually be a TDA7492 chip. If I increase the power supply voltage to 29 volts the chip goes into shut down. This is the shut down voltage for the TDA7492 part.

I have this board from Parts Express:
http://www.parts-express.com/2x50w-tda7492-class-d-amplifier-board--320-301

With the same test conditions listed above, I can get 14.3 volts out before the amplifier goes into clipping. This translates to 34 watts which is much better than the board above.

As a comparison, I have this board:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC18V-24V-TPA3116-ClassD-Amplifier-Board-50W-50W-Filter-Capacitor-2-10000UF-/251413946728?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a89706168#ht_2780wt_1291

With the same test conditions, I can get 15 volts out before the amplifier goes into clipping. This translates to 37.5 watts which closely matches the power out versus power supply voltage curves for the TPA3116 part.

In all tests, I am only driving one channel. And I let the resistive load cool down between tests.

I have two questions:
1) Any guess as to why the first board will only put out 22 watts and the second board with the same part will put out 34 watts?
2) Is the TPA3116 part much better than the TDA7492 part? It will put out almost 3 extra watts under the same test conditions.

TDA7498 vs TPA3116D2 - a listening test

I bought 2 monoblock - each amplifier module rated at 100w.

1)TPA3116D2

2)TDA7498

These are bridged internally so no external modification is required. Both amplifiers are well made. Tested with original HP 19v 90w adapter for power supply & Dayton RS100 mid range & dual magnet bullet tweeter speakers.

The TPA3116D2 makes a popping sound on switch on if the volume is reduced below 10k resistance. To avoid this the board 10k preset has to be set at full volume.

Though TDA7498 is priced 2x higher than TPA3116D2 I prefer the sound of it over the latter. To me the TDA7498 is louder with better bass, vocals & much more refined high frequency treble > 12Khz

I have them both and tda7498 tda8954th irs2092 operated amplifier everything that right now Chinese sellers are selling for cheap price lol. My personal opinion tda7492p is well designed and clear bass also loud. According to data sheet 7492 can produce max 25rms watts and the chip generally using in modern 4k led lcd tv etc because of low distortion and clear bass and sounds. Tda7498 has more power and according to datasheet this chip can produce max 50watts of RMS, however out put loads has effect of power outage. Personally I have noticed tpa3116 has poping issue on start up and has background hisss. I have 3 different tpa3116d2 amplifiers board from eBay all has the same issue and there bass is not heavy as tda chips are. Tpa3116 is rated at 25watts+25watts stereo. However tpa3116 has syn pin for sharing gain with other tpa3116 chip to make more power. If your tda7492 has gain setting switch (input sensitivity)on the board turn them both ON to get maximum power. Those gain setting switch has huge effect on power outage. These all amplifier are cheap and we'll designed and China has used all fancy components I doubt these components and chips are surplus item. The best amplifier I have ever found from eBay is tda8954th. These tda8954th had true 420watts RMS watts on bridge mode at 8ohm load however I am using 4ohm load on it.

I believe the issues you have is the board design.
I have this TPA3116 board with Bluetooth (you can find the same board from Aiyima also)
GHXAMP TPA3116 2.1 Subwoofer Bluetooth Amplifier Digital Audio Board 50W*2+100W Bass AUX For 2.1 Bluetooth 5.0 Speaker DIY NEW-in Amplifier from Consumer Electronics on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group
No popping when turning on (I have an older board that has it) and I can hear hissing only when I stick my ear next to the speaker and using line-in.
Dead silence when it's on Bluetooth (it's using some unknown JL chip)

There is also a review of similar board (older layout) without Bluetooth and I'm getting one so to use my own CSR bluetooth module.

I have compared the specs at 24V and upto 50W output per channel , TPA 3116D2 is slightly ahead of TDA7498E in all aspects like THD, Switching Frequency. Further TPA 3116D2 is having many protections for circuit and even DC protection for Speaker, if properly implemented both will have similar audio but TDA7498E can go upto 80W , even 125W per channel with 1% THD. In view of the above and 24v is considered to be safe , I prefer 3116d2 based like Fosi BT30E (TDA7498e based but limited to 2x50w + 100W) , AIYIMA B01, SUCA M-503C, Douk Audio M3 , Wazhi Audio ZK-TB21
