Looking for a TPA3116D2 to play with, I have access to a few, some with OP amps, some with caps, ... it can be hard to navigate through the lot and quite easy to get lost!

Don't have much experience with class D amps, so turning to the "pros" :D

Here's a short list of some of the 2.1 boards available, in 50W+50W, +100W.

I believe TI specifies ferrite bead filter is within FCC (how is radiolaw where you live?) with twisted speakerwires till 1.5 or 2 meters. In Japan it is probably not legal, very strict laws there:) This board has FB on output, so no peaking outputfilter with any speakerload, also less distortion and better efficiency?? probably, if chip isn't tempted to become a radiotransmitter:)

Well, measuring the TPA3132D2 (Simililar to the 3116/3118) with only fb-filters transmits some "noise" but not that much to worry about.

(Measured at PVCC=20V with 8Ohm speaker at 0.7m speaker wire, HMS3010, HZ551 probe at 1m distance)

Those "peaks" are just harmonics of the switching frequency, better seen here:

Yeah, initially I was thinking about that amp, but then I was afraid that it might not have enough juice for the 2 subwoofers it was gonna power, meaning these:

OmnesAudio SW 6.01 | DIY

I also heard then that these amps don't actually have a variable lowpass, just some kind of bass eq, and I was bummed. I really need the variable low-pass.

Now I am thinking a bit sideways... like buying 2 STA508 based amps and for one of them use a Low-pass filter, thus having a amp for Fullrange and one variable in a reasonable small package. Get one aluminium case wide enough for 2 STA amps and be done with it. Ah, the whole thing will probably be fed from a laptop brick, with ~150W total available, which I will not use, because the FR will be MarkAudio CHR-70 and coupled with those subs will never reach 150W. But it's good for the THD and headroom. And the low pass fed from something like this. Does it make sense? :)
