I usually build my Nephews a Mina A amp when they graduate, but since this one was still in school he got this. Always a glutton for punishment I tried to build it as small as I could for Dorm use.

Very nice... The size of the heat sink should make up for the inefficiency of the horizontal mounting.. But I have to ask: Is the bottom Plexi-glass also? And if so why do you have a ground going to an insulator? Why not pull that ground wire backwards to the metal rear panel? But I LOVE the look and size of the amp, and I will be doing something similar for my kids now.. Thanks for the idea and pic!

Make sure, and you probably know, but make sure not to ground the sink unless your chips are insulated from the sink or they will zap instantly.

Andrew thats true from a safety perspective, but if you mention that and leave out that the amp will self destruct if the chip is not insulated from that ground then amp building is pointless. Of course the chip should be insulated and the sink should be grounded so that you dont kill yourself

EVERYBODY relax...
Wirewiggler mentions he has built Mini-A's and this build is not too shabby at all. ![]() I think he most likely has a handle on the wiring and construction. This is a photo / show off thread, PLEASE help leave it as that.
