Anyone have a pic of the area behind the speaker terminals?

You should know by now that photos are critically important since there are many similar amps. It may or may not help but it takes seconds to include and couldn't hurt to post.

The board says 1 ohm resistors someone repaired it before and it has 3.3 ohm resistors in it .

So I was wondering if anyone knew the correct value that belongs there

If this is a ZED amp. I'd guess that the original components were a 0.1uF cap and a 2.7 ohm resistor. For the Zobel resistors, I've see some OEM resistors that didn't match the silkscreen.

Next question is the guy said it melted his rca cables when he plugged them into the amp .


What do I need to measure or look for ?

A transformer that's shorted (maybe intermittently) from primary to secondary.

Can I take a voltage reading off the shield ground of the rca jacks while twisting the transformer to see if I get any voltage on them ?

If so I place black probe on rca shield ground and where does the red probe go for a test point ?

What's the resistance between the B+ terminal and the RCA sields?

Is there any DC voltage on the RCA shields when the amp is powered up?

The power supply fets are BUZ102S with 220 ohm gate resistors .

Would the 3205’s work ?

I don't know what they're using for a drive circuit but unless they're using a lot of deadtime, I think you'll have to reduce the gate resistor value to something more common (47 ohms). If the drive circuit is weak (photos?), you may need to do more to use the 3205s.

Back to this amp .

The original power supply fets were BUZ102

Can I just replace them with the IRFZ44’s instead of the 3205’s and not have to change anything ?

Wondering if the Z44’s would be a better option

I think that I'd likely use the 3205s with the 47 ohm resistors but you can try the Z44s.
