Multimeter question

What’s an good inexpensive multimeter ?

The one I have now has a problem with it and not sure why it’s doing what it’s doing .

I replaced the batteries in it and it will work for 2 mins then the new batteries will get so hot you can’t touch them and started melting the plastic housing .

It’s done this with several different brands of batteries all brand new and not mismatched

The meter has a short or some other component that's drawing excessive current. If you have a second meter (borrow), you may be able to find it.

Inexpensive to one person may be $10. To someone else, sub $500.

For really cheap, the red & black Craftsman isn't too terrible. It's not autoranging, and is no thrills, but it works fine.

Buy a Fluke. It's worth the money. Get a 17B, $120.00

Any $10 meter which works is WAY better than your current one which belongs in the nearest landfill.
