I have a jl audio slash amplifier that just draws .45 amps of current for a minute then attempts to oscillate and then shuts back down. Wondering if anyone has seen this before.
I'll use the be 4 gauge on the larger SUPPLY to ensur so. It seems like it attempts and trips the protection curcuit. No shorts found thus far. Found a diode, that reads out, I'll pull and test it.
So I got it powered up, ocsilation at the outputs and plays audio but distored. I do not have 1/2 of rail at the speaker terminal. And the through put signal doesn't look good.
Yes solid connections. It's staying powered up now. The gain pot with a load (subwoofer) connected. If I turn the gain pot it goes from light volume to loud and there static just touching it. Nothing seems to be getting hot or burnt anywhere.
Sorry perry was sick for awhile. So the issue is the power situation. It randomly losses power and or Powers up. When powered up I checked all the op amps for the +-12vdc all checked ok. It also has audio when powered up.
So I used a switch from a newer jl audio amplifier I had here and I got the amplifier working, unless you switch the crossover switch from the off position, would this be another bad switch?
Yes. It may or may not be the crossover switch since there are circuits that feed that switch that may be controlled by other switches. The problems are typically intermittent and moving the switch actuator just slightly will cause the signal to pass or not.
This amplifier just cuts off audio completely if the crossover is engaged at all either setting 12db or 24db, and no matter how i manipulate the switch has no effect, until switched to the off posistion.
