I have repaired power supply and output stage. The amp powers up and produces clean audio. The amp is drawing about 8-10 amps at idle. This is too much compared to my other ones. Any ideas what could cause the excess current draw?

Quiescent current too high, if class D then the dead time setting is too small. Power supply tuning issues etc etc etc.

The amp originally had some of the outputs fail due to one of the insulators between the FET's and the heat sink become conductive and short to the heat sink. There were a few SMD transistors failed as well. Someone had also changed only one power supply FET. I changed them all as to have matching date codes. I replaced all the outputs as well. Nothing seems to be getting hot just can't pin point the current draw.

It does produce clean audio.

I have 5.60vdc on all power supply gate legs, half the power supply has a nice square wave on the gate leg. The other half is a square wave as well but it looks different. The wave is much further above and below the reference line and a lot closer together.

I apologize for the pic quality. My big scope is down had to use the hand held.

It looks like one supply is idle and the other is at higher duty cycle?

The scope is in auto range not sure why one reading was in "ms" and the other "us".

Aren't they the same with a different scope timebase setting?

Why wouldn't the scope read them the same in auto range? Why would one be in ms and the other in us?

The scope probably tries to decide which will give the best view of the signal. Maybe one of the things it used to make the choice was on the border and it chose differently.

Just not sure where to begin hunting this current draw. I guess I'll keep digging.

If those signals look fine to you, then I will move on somewhere different.
