So I have a 2001 Rockford Fosgate 501x drawing 2.79a of current during start up so I checked the outputs and ps fets none a shorted. No burnt spots on board other than a small cap had corrosion on it. I checked the gate resistors, and the 494 with remote and ground is

I think they sometimes creep up on their own. I've seen them biased too high in amps with the tamper-evident seals intact. And... it's also possible that someone was thinking that they could get more power by upping the bias. Little do they know that the bias is like the idle speed on an engine.
