Engine Noise

I recently (today) installed two new 4" subs in my car. I have them hooked to a 200 watt 2 channel boss amp on 16 gauge wire. The wire from the amp to the battery is 10 gauge. I dont have any engine noise from my 12" sub or my factory speakers. What gives? Thanks in advance!

Make sure that none of the speaker wires or the RCAs are shorted to ground. You'll need to disconnect the RCAs at both ends to check them. Remove the speaker wires from the speaker terminals on the amp before checking them.

Is the signal source for the new speakers feeding any other amp?

Yes I have two amps. a 1200 watt and this new 200 watt. Would it be better if i just ditched this 200 watt and plugged the 2 speakers into the same terminal on the 1200 watt?

The power requirements for the small speakers will be very different.

Yeah I tried, it didn't work. My RCAs are fine. Could it be a ground loop?

You get a ground loop when you have two grounds influencing the audio ground. That's the reason that I suggested that you check the various items for a short to ground. RCAs shorted to ground or (non-bridging) speaker wires shorted to ground can cause ground loops.
