Got this amp today opened it up and found blown caps. was wondering what would cause this to happen only one of the big caps vented. the two smaller caps are bulged out.

Are there any other issues with the amp?

This amp is two ohm stable if the amp was driving less than a two ohm load, this may have shortened the lifespan of these caps.

I see this from time to time and if there are no other issues, replacing the caps should take care of the problem.

outputs Q108 and Q110 are no good the others are still good ixtq36n30p

This is a common problem. Replacing the outputs and caps should fix the amp. You can replace all the outputs and filter caps, but I don't think it's necesssary.

Again, the failure may be due to the amp being worked too hard.

alright do you know a good source for these parts? I got this amp with a lot of others from a pawn shop as they had been returned as broken so i have no idea the past of this amp but i think your right just someone who didnt know what they was doing probly had the gains completely up

Here is a link for the IXTQ36N30P's. You may be able to buy them from Allied or Digikey.

The caps can be replaced with anyting with the same value and same footprint, maybe Nichicon or Vishay.

Or someone else on this forum may be able to recommend a good source. If you can find a spare parts board that would work.

2200UF 25V 105 degree for the filter caps and 10UF 200V non polarized for the caps near the output inductors.

i cant find 10uf 200v NP for some reason keeps bringing up 10uf 100v

I use those in amps where there is enough space but I don't think they will fit in the kicker amp. If they will fit, the film caps should work. I know that they're good quality caps.

would you happed to know the dimension of the 820uf 160v cap that is in these amps i dont have anything to measure with at the moment

Update on this amp. found the NP caps on a parts amp I had in the bin and I ordered the other caps and outputs from mouser got them installed and amp is working. Thanks Perry and PapaZBill for the help.

I let the amp idle for a couple hours and i check it and the amp is warm and its drawing 5.18 amps. i opened the top cover and the output inductor is very hot too hot to touch for a second and almost all big caps in the amp are warm

This amp tends to run pretty warm,and idle current of 5 amps isn't out of range.The output inductor can withstand a significient amount of heat. If there isn't a thermal gap pad you may consider installing one between the inductor and amp cover.
