Set the volume to 1/2 on the ipod. What is the AC voltage on the two metal tabs on the back of the RCA jack when playing the test tone?

Place the black probe on the RCA shield when measuring the voltage.

Just wondering what does this tell u . I dont have anything on me to check the voltage... isnt the outputs 6v thats why the amp blew?

There's really nothing more I that I can do without having the voltage on those points (and a few others, which would be needed later).

The '6v' was the DC bias voltage on the speaker terminals. That tells me nothing about the voltage on other points.

Are you gonna try and help me mod the amp to work with my headunit?

Find a meter and post the make/model (or provide a link to information about it).

Building a new circuit would take a bit of effort. Hopefully, the op-amp in the amplifier will be sufficient. One more may have to be added but since the power supply and input circuit already exist, it will be much easier to modify this.

Post the AC voltage on the 4 points shown in the graphic above.

Set the volume on the ipod so that points A and B are 1/2v AC.

Play the audio file (link provided earlier) through the ipod while measuring the voltage.

I couldnt get points a and b up to 1/2 v i could only get it to;
A= .3
B= .3

And that was on the 200m setting on my multimeter.

Then checked points c and d;
C= 5.22v
D= 5.22v

Are you sure you were using the AC setting and not the DC setting?

Please re-measure the AC voltage. Be sure to set the meter to AC volts.

This is the meter i used; MAS830L,digital multimeter

I used the top left quarter is the correct?

No. That's DC. There are only 2 AC voltage settings. Set it to 200v AC (to the right of top center).
