Unhappy worried I buggerd my amp

I have an Extreme 500watt mono amp. I connected the positive correctly, and I tried to bypass the rem by connecting it to the negative part of the battery, should I be worried? it never went on, so I disconnected it after 5 minuts of trying, did I fry it?
and would the fuses have stoped any real damage. hate to say it but I'm a noob to installs. and it was grounded.

The remote wire of your amp needs +12 volts on it to turn the amp on. If all you did was applied ground to it, that would not have damaged the amp.
If it ain't broke Don't fix it
