I would be very surprised if transformer 1 secondary doesn't have some issues driving the primary of transformer 2 due to limited primary inductance in transformer 2. This could result in significant distortion even if neither transformer would normally be saturating at the amplitude and frequency in question.

The primary inductance of the second SUT begins to become relevant when the reactance of that winding starts to diminish relative to the driving source impedance of the first transformer as frequency decreases. The source impedance presented to the second transformer is going to be 25X higher than the typical cartridge source impedance it expects to see resulting in early LF roll off and potentially quite a lot of distortion..

An experiment to try, but you'd be better off with the proper SUT in the long term.
