Hi,
I have some 26AWG solid copper wire & would like to rewire my RB300 tone arm with these. Is it advisable ? All the past messages I have seen regarding rewiring seem to suggest a higher gauge wire would be better (28 ~ 30awg). Is it because anything of a lower gauge will add too much weight to the arm ? Or there are some other reasons ?
Advise needed. Thank you.

I think I tried 26 and 28AWG, and finally settled on 30. The heavier gauges just catch inside the arm, and don't allow the arm to rotate freely. So you end up with very high antiskating force, which is very uneven across the record. I'm not saying it's impossible to do, but I'd advise you to save yourself the trouble and frustration and just get the 30AWG wire.
