Default Rega T/T HELP

Hi, I picked up a Rega T/T at a local garage sale.

Got it home & when stared it up & the platter ran backwards at 33 RMP. Switched it to 45 RPM pulley & it ran correct. The belt was very sloppy, so I thought it would need a new belt, which I purchased from F/Bay.
Belts arrive today, seller supplied two. Fitted to T/T & exactly the same result. Now just to see I fitted the two belts to both pulley diameters, and T/T ran correct rotation.
I have also applied an ''O'' ring to the back of the motor to tighten up the pulley/belt interface further, but that made no difference.

Any suggestions

Cheers

Could be a bad capacitor, check the connections and then replace the cap.
Clean all the drive surfaces that the belt touches with alcohol for better friction.
Otherwise, it may be the motor.

This will be the motor run capacitor? Yes if that's failing the motor will run either way as the auxiliary winding isn't operating.
