I've done some searches and googling but I can't find out if TT cartridges and tonearm connections are mostly universal? Do they have a standard connection or do different brands have their own proprietary version? Anything else this relative noob to TTs should look out for is welcome.
Hi, Do you mean the arrangement of the 4 pins at the back. Is so, yes mostly universally the same, apart from an Ortofon OM30 I have. These have the pin colours in a different order.
If you mean the attaching distance for a cart to the tonearm, yes 12.5mm
Cheers
Yeah, the 4 pins. Thanks for the info, It's appreciated.
There is also the P-mount or T4P cartridge socket, popular in DJ turntables.
Next time I see P Mount or T4P cartridge socket I will know what it means? Thanks mate, it all helps.
Sorry for having been vague. P-mount is a type of socket where the P-mount cartridge fits directly, without the need of a headshell for convenience. Adjustment is not possible and not needed either. There are no slots for screws fixing to a headshell. Example:Next time I see P Mount or T4P cartridge socket I will know what it means? Thanks mate, it all helps.
