MPP

Over the weekend Andrejs brought one of his crazy machines.
This time a music server and discrete DAC.
The server is build on an Intel Board and runs with a pre release of Maverick. The software player is the latest version of Amarra.
The server has 4 PSUs in the style of his Paradise regulators but without tubes. Great work on the layout, Alfred !
The DAC is from Russia and works with discrete precision resistors.
The speakers where Suesskind Dolmen with active M-Dipole woofers.
They sound we got was quite amazing. Different from what i heard from Digital before.
Great bass and separation, a lot of energy in the treble but without any harshness.

DAC looks Nice, Mikkel talked about doing that, problem is timing issues and latency in the switches, I am quite sure resolution goes down, but random noise may be lower. (130 dB resolution/distortion seems academic anyway) Nice concept. question is what kind of switch to use and how to get the precision in the resistors. could be that they should be measured out and selected from a 1% bunch.
