Sony pcm 7010 - XLR to RCA input

I have a Sony pcm 7010 but the original cables are missing. I need to make a XLR male to RCA male adapter for the analog input.
According to the service manual, pin 2 is grounded, and pin 1 and pin 3 are + and - accordingly (picture attached).
Should I connect pin 1 to RCA tip and pin 2 and 3 to RCA outer (ground)?

Edit: I'm confused now. I found the analog input adjustment procedure in the same manual and the picture shows pin 1 as ground..... See picture attached. It is obvious that there is an error, but which one is correct?
