Suggestion For CFA Op-amp

I always use VFA op-amp like NE5532, OPA4134, TL072, TL084, etc. I want to try CFA op-amp for line pre-amp. Please suggest me, what op-amp should I use. The op-amp must 2 op-amp in single package and DIP package. And cheap also .

It won't be easy to find (dual "CF" OpAmp in DIP package) - they usually dissipate a lot of power (heavy current users) so something like AD811 (single/DIP) or AD815AYS (dual/SIP-15) is what you can aim for...

home audio today the "generic preamp" function is not the big deal it was decades ago

today most have digital audio outputs already at consumer line level and maybe a phono preamp - which is usually its own separate thing

It is nice to have input selector, volume control, and line pre-amp with a little voltage gain.

Over here AD8017 is 3 for $1, AD815 is half that price hence I stopped using AD8017 when I discovered AD815...

AD844 is a fine "CF" OpAmp and it has an interesting feature - TZ output (pin 5), which enables you to use it as a transconductance amp and to avoid chip's own class AB output stage, but it's still single OpAmp package, not dual...

Maybe you could try LT1364 it`s a VFB with the CFB structure inside. Look in datasheet for schematic. It sounds great!

LM6172 is similar. Also good sound so long as its not oscillating due to poor PSU decoupling...

Hello everybody.
I don't know if I understood correctly. do you want to associate a volume control with a preamplifier on the line? if so, it interests me too.
in a resistance-scale volume control, double resistances and double contact are required. with operational CFA it is possible to use only one resistance and only one contact?

You do realize these CFA opamps are designed for high frequencies, MHz, and the distortion figures are v. poor for audio? They require very low impedance circuitry and are hard to drive.


Great for 75 ohm video, illogical for audio.
