Would digital multi-channel (An experimental standard would start of with four channels each covering 2 to 3 octaves) sound recording, relative mixing (each channel mixed relative to the others but kept separate), storage, transmission coupled with multi-amplifier multi-speaker playback be the solution for complex music.

If this standard is not already on offer as some proprietary audio, lets see how long it will take Yamaha and the like to deliver an implementation of it in their DAWs and then for this to proriferate to FM radio, MPX,MPEGX.

The power amplifier will probably be an analog block for each of the transducers for low to medium power applications and most likely switch mode for high power applications (whether power supply rail shifting or power output FET switching or both).

Away from the high school of audio and back to the nursery of audio. One site put it forth that valve amplifiers as a result of not utilizing negative feedback are better at bass reproduction. On the home turf its not quite sure what makes SYMEF and 1DIFFQC and their brothers, sisters, cousins and distant relatives tick. The bass is just superb. This is possibly because these amplifiers pack much more power than your average tube amp or is there more :).

Elliot has subwoofer processing With a bass bump having 12dB slopes at 20Hz aimed at sealed box subwoofing exploiting the fact that below Fs subwoofer behaviour is predictable with a falling Z curve having a 12dB slope after Fs, Nelson has B5 with a 6dB bass bump at 20Hz for open baffle woofing, Not forgetting the bass boost on popular audio gear for the home and car with a 6dB bass bump at 50Hz. There are two types of bass; The I will rock your foundations bass and I will take you to cloud 9 air bass. The Isobaric is a marriage of both, ported and sealed box.

For the bass one could use Nelsons B4 (Nelson is probably building a digital controller so that you can have presets and remote control functionality) to coax out a 6dB,12dB or whatever combination of a 20Hz-60Hz bass bump. Another site put it forth that the 50-60Hz shifts to 20Hz when the woofer is moved into a car or small room. So for a small room or car set it to 60Hz. For open air or large room 20Hz. For the rest of the audio spectrum you could have crossover points at 100Hz, 600Hz, 6kHz although these are not mine there is something quite appealing about them. You could rattle the windows without making the male voice go too deep.

Where does the P1 come in in all these ? .......well the bass boost acts more like it was meant to be, giving you that extra kick for any bass challenged audio setup while keeping off the male voices.(The only setback depending on your source is that you might see a lot of cone movement on the off event your source has energy beyond 10Hz). It brings into perspective those high frequency regions that may have encountered loss due to limitations of your speakers, recording or ears, without messing with the 3kHz region unnecessarily. Its a broad brush and not surgical in any manner. What is the future for such a device....if your asking about the lifespan of the product in relation to advances in technology...not sure. This is diyaudio....lets have fun :). This is where you come in does the P1 with broad brush tone controls fit the bill or is an exotic solution required which you are free to suggest.
