Maya200

This is one more of those happy days, i finished my Maya 423 and it is finally singing tunes as i write this.
It´s so new i still smell the fresh paint from the heatsinks as they warm up ....
No first impressions yet , although it already shows all the wonderful characteristics that my 217 also has. If i were to point something out, i may be hearing a more controlled and deep bass. Control is the word in order.

This is without a doubt my cleanest build. I am truly happy with how it turned , looking at it now i would NOT change a thing. This of course is a reflex of being the 5th build on the same type chassis, i know where to drill, where NOT to drill, and how to separate AC from DC without making a fuss. This 423 has a inbuilt power conditioner ( Felix ) at the entry , followed by 2 audio grade toroids from Toroidy. Love the finish on those.

Again....tribute to The Man, as whatever happens after the power input is due to Hugh R. Dean .
Leave you with some pictures taken today.

Great News!!
In the last two months I have been testing the Maya 200 with electrostatic speakers, namely the Quad 63 and the Accustat.
These are owned by two good friends, one with a new Maya of only two months old. Russell has been using his Maya with his Harbeth speakers, the 12/5/1 floor standing three ways. These are superb speakers of imposing dimension, beautifully made with English timber, I think walnut. The realism in his largish room is stunning, but his recent comments to me about his old Quad surprised me.
Russell considers that the Quad 63 sounds better than he has heard it before, and whilst the bass is not as strong and low as the Harbeth, the overall presentation in his view is better. The amp seems to cope with ease with these speaker (2uF at 20KHz, hugely difficult to drive) and I am over the moon about this.
Ernie rang recently about his experiences with another Maya 200 using his Accustats, which are about twenty years old but pretty good speakers. He recounts that the Accustats sound better than he has ever heard them, and the presentation is so realistic and so resolving that he is resolved to convince his wife to allow buying a new Maya.... I have loaned the audition amp for ten days knowing he would like them; his present amp is a Soraya CB105 from about 2009, which still works very well but nowhere the sound quality of the new Maya.
These 'reviews' have been a very encouragement; I think I am in the right track, and my amps seem to sound very good and appear to be extremely stable with just about any speaker including the difficult electrostatics.
