It is 0 degrees outside and the lights are off but the house is toasty warm and you are reading a newspaper because of all the tube heaters.

When you have 1000s of dollars in tube audio including the FM tuner & spare tubes to last to the year 2050.

When you are paying rent on a warehouse full of tubes, and you don't even know what types you have, or how many.
I was given these tubes for free. I had to rent a U-Haul and go pick them up in Orlando - 200 Miles away. It took three trips. They were placed in this (and another) warehouse rather quickly and in an unorganized fashion. I have been sorting and catalogging tubes for over 2 years. There are still boxes that I haven't opened. Most are loose tubes in large boxes. Quite a few are broken. Someone had already removed the "audiophile tubes".
Based on the number of tubes in a few boxes and the number of boxes, I have at least 100000 tubes.

When you find a box in the above warehouse that contained 24 833A tubes. You have no socket, but really want to try out these tubes. If you look closely at the picture you will see vise grips and hose clamps used to connect the tube.

When you can draw circuit diagrams from memory (including component values) but can't remember how you cooked the curry two weeks ago...
Meh, that's pretty clean.
Hrm 24 x 833s, that could put out a few kilowatts, no? We might have to talk...

... when you can remember the proper bias point on an amplifier that you haven't owned since 1990 but you can't remember why your wife sent you to the grocery store.

Elderberry wine, for you and that other nice older gentleman.
Acquaintances think of you when getting rid of those 200-250 NOS RCA, GE and Aperex tubes in the basement rather than toss them out (two Fridays ago 😛).
Hey Tubelab.com
Take the stress off yourself, dont give yourself a headache trying to sort out all those tubes, just send them to me 🙂

Large power tubes generally don't need forced cooling unless in an operating circuit. 😉
