Never said it, just wondered what you were thinking. Now I realise that you chip amp guys were just way ahead of the power curve. Big amps are silly now. My humble external apology for my ignorant internal thoughts.
I just wonder why you think that big amps are silly "now" ? If by big you mean powerfull, loudspeakers aren't getting more efficient and class D allows powerful amps that are efficient and quite cheap. It seems to me that big amps are less silly today than they were in the past.
I do not mean high wattage amps are silly. I do know however that anytime you *need* more than a 100 watts or so in a full range speaker there is no doubt that there is nasty thermal and inertial dynamic compression going on that very few owners of such speakers will ever be aware of.I just wonder why you think that big amps are silly "now" ?
