I didnt really understand what i was missing till i just saw a a post with a sub in two tubes. Thats not what i was thinking when Dave said sub like a Grecian column. I thought it was a box with a big monster tube coming it out of it
.... Where is sono tube bought ? Construction sites ?
Home Depot and Lowes both carry 8", 10", and 12" tubes. Larger sizes are available from concrete supply companies. I called one place and they wanted like $4/foot for 16" sonotube. I just bought 3, 12"x48" tubes from HD and Lowes. I bought different brands so i'm able to snuggly slip one over another. I made the mistake of test fitting two tubes and had to cut them apart so they fit very nicely. Just keep in mind thier sizes varry +/- .5".

Sigh ....... ill never sell her on that .. I was thinking more along the lines of the 12 " tube with a 10 " Sub in it put inside a 14 " tube Sealed at one end to make it a TL of sorts like someone posted elsewhere. wont have to be much higher then 40 inches then Not to grecian colum type but i can make that work esthetically .
The trick is to disguise it... if it is close to ceiling height in the corner (and well disguised) how could it be a speaker?
I have an artist friend who can paint tubes to look like solid marble (http://www.charles-art.com/) -- that is where i got the idea of the grecian columns. He is in Ottawa right now...
How not to disguise it... but gives you the general idea.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Or you could use the speaker as the foot... like Nelson did with el-pipe-o (21" woofers in a 24" sonotube....

This one is opposed push-pull -- with the cube at the base this is harder to disguise, but at least it is carpet covered so you could call it a cat-scratch post

Here is a thread with a non-concentric folded sonotube TL... much easier to build.

Yes thats the one that got me thinking along those lines. Andy is in the process of building my stereo dual 10 enclosures and i really dont like to anger my German friend. Dont stop him from fixing his Bimmer and dont interuppt his woodwork.
