When I was 8 or so growing up in Cape Breton, NS. my father drove me to Tatamagouche on the main land where he was born.
I think his sister Vera had died and he needed to go there and sign something or whatever when old people move on. I do not recall and he is long dead now too.
So we were there on his other sister Jackie's farm and Jackie let us stay with her. Jackie was old as dirt and so was her deceased sister Vera. I think my father was a mistake birth as his sisters were old enough to be his mother and indeed his parents were dead when he was a child and Jackie raised him up to be a man. Who cares...?
Jackie's husband, a retired teacher, was in the field at the age of 70 tossing over 70 pound bales of hay onto the flatbed as his grandson pulled them up and stacked them. One of the neighbors kids drove the rig, I guess him to be about 12 years old driving the truck and trailer.
Can you see a man walking in a field at the age of 70 tossing hay bales 60 - 80 inches or higher like they were nothing? Over and over again.
I looked at my father and made proclamations. My dad looked at me and smiled and drank his beer. He said that's the way people are here. It blew my mind away.
It was the fall or late summer hay and the salmon were making their run too. One of the kids down the road poached a huge salmon illegally and sold it to Jackie for peanuts. I think she hired the kid to do it myself. My father was so excited and pleased there was a massive salmon baking in the oven. It terrified the **** out of me as Jackie baked it head, body, tail and all.

I haven’t played long enough to get a streak of 10 yet. That will be a milestone for me 🤣. Occasionally US or Canadian spelling misleads me a bit too. Not beating myself up too much though! It is just fun after all.

In general, this is my experience so I was slightly surprised today. Today's solution is a very nice word.typically avoids obscure words
By my count, there are 12,971 words in the file of "allowed guesses" in Wordle.
On the other hand, there are only 2,315 words in the file of "approved Solution Words" in Wordle.
To name an example, STYLI (plural of STYLUS) is an allowed guess in Wordle. If you type it, your guess won't be rejected. HOWEVER, Josh Wardle and his fiancee decided that STYLI was NOT acceptable as a puzzle solution, so it does not appear in the file of "approved Solution Words" in Wordle. And if those two people were running the game, STYLI would never be the solution to a Wordle puzzle.
However the NYT has taken over from Josh Wardle and they may or may not have tweaked or diddled or around-jacked with one or both of those files. But I'm extremely confident they still exist, and #_allowed_guesses >> #_approved_Solution_Words

My maverick playing paid off here 😆.
I was the only player (well 0%) who chose the third word of the first 80,000 players, and that led me to the final word - a lucky guess in this case, it could have gone to 6 guesses!

That's an interesting thought - both words this weekend were surprisingly obscure, for wordle. However the NYT has taken over from Josh Wardle and they may or may not have tweaked or diddled or around-jacked with one or both of those files.
