Heard a little buzz coming from the Audax HM100Z0 mid in one of my speakers. Discovered that there was a ring glued to the edge of the surround, and that it was coming loose.
It detached completely with a nudge. Pictures:
What it's supposed to look like (this is the intact driver in the other speaker):
What it does look like (note the exposed edge of the surround):
The detached ring:
The buzz disappeared when the ring came off, so that's good. But I imagine that the ring performs some useful function, so I'd like to reattach it.
What adhesive would be right for this job?
(And also, what's the ring called? And does it actually have a mechanical purpose, or is it just cosmetic?)

Looks like the designer was using a belt and suspenders approach to keep the cone and frame together. Any place that sells kits to re-foam woofers should have a suitable adhesive to put everything back together again.
