Hi,
I am rebuilding (repairing) the bias supply for an Acoustat electrostatic speaker and I need at least 1 but preferably 2, 500-Meg, 2W resistors.
I would also like to replace 4, 10-Meg, 2W resistors.
So far, I cannot find a source for these unless I buy 1,000 pieces and wait 8 months and spend a few thousand dollars (per Mouser and Digikey and general Google search).
Are there any sources for these?
I did find some 1-Gig, 7.5 W resistors ($10 each) at a local shop and I guess I could get two and install them in parallel. They will fit.
Sorry if there's already a thread on this - I did search here too and could not find a thread.
Thanks,
Terry, SF Bay Area

Don't forget the voltage rating.
You often can buy small sample quantities direct from the mfr or through their sales rep (esp in CA).

Ten pieces from Onlinecomponents or TTI looks good. These are rated at 15kV.

For high voltages its common to use series-strings of resistors as this increases the voltage rating (yes resistors have a maximum voltage rating) as well as total power handling. Its likely to be cheaper than specialist resistors too.
But 1/2W resistors with 5kV rating don't exist!
The size is mainly for the creepage distance. Which is why a series string is advantageous

Thank you. I need to work on my Mouser search skills, I guess.
Thanks!
I found and installed the parts as suggested above and the speaker is repaired, working and sounding great.
Thanks for the support and suggestions. Much appreciated.
