What to do about my smoking Rotel receiver?!?!

So I bought this Rotel receiver a little while back at a steal. Worked great, sounded awesome and all that. I had it hooked up in my room for a couple of weeks and all was good. I was watching a show one night through my Apple TV (optical out only) and all of a sudden the speakers start wiggin out (left, center, and right) and smoke is coming out of the top of the case! I was so sad.

So I took it out of commission for several days and leave it alone and then my step dad suggests I check it out. So I wire a pair of speakers for stereo only and a CD player analog with rca cables and it sings beautifully. You can smell the "burnt" smell as it warms up but all seems good. Played for about an hour at fairly high levels. Have not tested optical in nor the center channel.

So I called a repair shop and the first question sad was if I had a cat. I said I do and they told me that a cat hair may have landed in the exact right spot. I'm not too sure. But there really isn't a really "great" repair place around and I really don't want to ship it. I'm not even sure it needs repaired.

What do you guys think? Anyone on the willamette valley of Oregon that can be recommended if it is needed?

Dan
