hi,
My CD player is Pioneer PDS-802, is really old stuff, is worth it to add a DAC and use the PDS-802 as a transport? I looked at some reviews and concerning Marantz CD17 M2 KI and CD6000KI signature the CD17 is very expensive as second hand and is difficult to find these stuff. Any suggestions for similar CDs, what about Meridian 506 24bit?
Thanks Williams

The Pioneer PD-S802 does not have a coaxial digital ouput and this limits it's usefulness as a dedicated transport.
If you know some electronics, you can built for the 802 a coaxial digital output. Alternatively, you can purchase a ready-made unit from www.soundlabsgroup.com.au
The 802 is a really nice player and it will yield a nice sound when properly modded.

Get yourself a Marantz CD67SE or OSE at Ebay for a fair price and start to modifying it. There are tons of information here at DIY how to mod it into a outstanding CDplayer 😉
