VU meter question

I just got analog VU meter and i dont know how to connect it to a amplifier.Does + and - marks on device goes BEFORE(between input chinch and volume pot) or AFTER(between volume pot and amp boards) the volume pot?
And + and - marks means + is signal and - is ground ?

Normally you simply add the VU meter after the pre amp, so I would recommand you to put it after your volume pot. Used with bridge and resistor to adapt the signal is a pretty straight forward method but I recommand you try ESP Project 55. Easy to assemble and great performance.

Where did you get your meter from? I have been looking for one and haven't found a good source. I will probably just high-jack one from some old school device, but I would rather have something new.

Thanks, and sorry I didn't help you any 🙂

Internal to the VU meter is a bridge rectifier with a capacitor across its output. This CAN lead to clipped signal peaks if the meter is across a high impedance source. I suggest you feed the meter with it's own low impedance source (in other words a buffer) seperate from your audio chain.
