Visaton BG20 - good/cheap fullrange for Karlson 12

for most purposes, no helper tweeter needed - vocals in general are very good - cone excursion around 1/16" peak to peak for decent listening levels. On sustained organ pedal tones with a Rudy Rosa cd there's some "gargle" - possibly motor related as cone excursion is very low. - BG20 is nice driver for the money and for a K12. click the two pictures to get the aspect correct

not much response on this thread - BG20 is a good affordable musical driver and will work in a Karlson 12 - it could work in a smaller K- coupler if the bass were augmented. There's enough highs to be satisfied without use of a helper tweeter - the cabinet above is one of those "7-slit vent" K12s associated with Pioneer speakers and pretty much like the 1958 K12 save for a 30 degree baffle angle and no upper piece above the 10 degree cant port board. BG20 overall is probably better overall for this purpose than the over-rated BOFU whose surround rotted. It could be interesting to develop a new K-coupler for BG20 - or just use a different vent with the existing K12 form factor.
