Has anyone tried to Passive Vertical Biamp (and Bi-Wire) with a pair of T-AMPS?

Basically:

Right Speaker = T-Amp 1
- Mono signal input to both R+L inputs
- Right Speaker out = Right Tweeter
- Left Speaker out = Right Woofer

Left Speaker = T-Amp 2
- Mono signal input to both R+L inputs
- Right Speaker out = Left Tweeter
- Left Speaker out = Left Woofer

Thoughts?

I have vertically bi-amped with a number of amps, but not specifically a Tripath based amp. It would work just the same as any other class of amplification as long as you like the sound quality, and don't have low-impedance issues depending on the chip used.

Any specific reason you want to do this?

Thank you for the reply, what has your experience been? Did it make much difference?

I am currently horizontal biamping with Audiolab 8000S and 8000P. S drives the tweeters and P drives the woofers.

I have been tempted to see how my current setup will compare to T-amps... Also, vertical biamping is just cleaner..

It only makes a difference in my experience if you like the voicing/characteristic of a specific amp with specific drivers. For example, I've used tubes on horns while powering the woofers with a SS amp. Most tripath amps have some tweeter hiss, so I wouldn't use one specifically on tweeter/mids, and most don't have the power you would want for woofers.

Do you specifically like the tripath sound?

That is quite a good way to get best of both 🙂
I have not heard the tripath sound yet, but I have been told that my proacs will be a perfect match with Tube amps.

then I read somewhere that ta2020 chip sounds very 'tube like', so it's a cheap test really - not sure what to expect...
