I've got a Portable, Recording MD unit with optic audio in. I've been looking around on the internet and a USB to Optic adapters cost around $100. I know they can be built a lot cheaper (like a whole lot of other things like car amps). So does anyone have a schematic or a link to one of a USB to Optic audio adapter.
Thanks alot

Hi nitropowered,
If you are thinking you can use USB to record faster to the MD (like some of the new Sony's support) that won't work with an older MD recorder. The optical input is looking for real time, digital PCM coded audio (like the digital audio output from a CD or DVD player). Take a look at this website if you want to find more info about hot-rodding your MD.

I know I can only record in real time but I want to have a way to record mp3s or other digital audio to my md recorder using a digital connection. I record from my CDs using the Toslink port on my PS2 so I have a way to record music from CD's but not from MP3s
