Hi, brand new here, and yesterday I picked up a small AIWA CA-W35 Boombox from goodwill for something to play with. Apparently it is only capable of 1.8w per channel, from 150-10k hz. I'm slightly insane and want it to be pumping out a bit more than that😉 where do i start?
Hi,
And the power supply. TBH the best you can do is connecting
it to far larger speakers which defeats the portable object.
It runs off batteries, high power is not the general point.
rgds, sreten.

keep the speakers, they probably are high efficiency so not much power is needed. put in a simple class D amplifier like the Tripaths since SQ isn't the priority and modify the supply for a smallish lead-cell 12v battery. hours and hours of fun!
a high-pass at 60~80 hz is a good idea to reduce wastefull power usage and increase usable output. can't expect any decent subwoofer-performance anyway.

They are probably high efficiency indeed but I don't think they are designed to take 10 times the original power. I'd go with a PAM8403 with a 5v usb battery to get more power and longer lifetime. Don't expect to get much gain though, it's a fun boombox but it's outdated.
