Undervolting power supply to lower volume

Hi,
is it possible to undervolt 230v 30 watts amplifier through lamp dimming control to lower output volume? Will it harm the amplifier if it has 230 volts power supply and lower voltage will be supplied?

IF the amplifier tolerates the lower supply rails, all you are likely to accomplish is severe clipping on louder music passages, with a high risk of destroying your tweeters. Don't even think about it.

If you want to lower the volume use attenuators on the inputs... leave the amp alone.
