Schmantony,

I was almost tempted to bid on your auction for spares.

It looks like you are a PV820 user and are keeping hold of a good one for your own use.

For the benefit of anyone out there who's thinking of bidding, these are excellent, virtually silent, lightweight, modern-looking, auto-everything panels that are superb and one of the best old generation of panels ever made.

This is not the Rolls Royce of projection panels, but it is the Jaguar.

I am a highly satisfied owner since February this year. Just check out Mowglie's pics on the permanent 'results' thread, page 9, for more examples of PV820's performance.

Panasonic LC40

Hey Henrik,

Still getting the hang of this fourm thing, so Im probably posting in the wrong place but I really wanted to ask you how you got on with the Panasonic LC40 LCD screen, is it possible to take it a part and have all the cables out of the way so it can be put on top of an ohp?

I bougt a topvision monitor before I even found this fourm only to find it had ribbon cables in the way when I took it apart. :bawling:

Now I may have the option to buy this panasonic at a reasonable price.

If you can provide any advice that would be GREAT.

A bit late, but.....

Rhys,

I've only just seen your message, and this is probably far too late to be of any use to you, but.....

It was a nightmare - it took about an hour to dissassemble - about 50 screws, and I took it as far as I could - but the backlight seemed to either be riveted, or permanently fixed some other way to the TFT itself.

Given a lot more determination, time and motivation, it may have been achievable, as the controller board and ribbon cable assembly came away, and sat nicely on one side of the panel as I worked on separating the backlight and tft. Could well be a good project, but my PV 820 is certainly good enough to keep me happy for the next few months until a friend in the US brings me over a new Infocus X1 DLP for £650 in his carry-on luggage!

Let me know how you get on. I got my 14" Panaflat for about £15 if I remember, so if its cheap - go for it!

Happy DIY-ing!
